If you have tequila, triple sec, and limes available in your backyard bar, you’re set to serve up something that’ll satisfy every one of your guests. Sure, not everyone will be a fan of the original recipe, but these different margarita recipes give you some options.

The Classic Margarita

Mixing up a margarita is a pretty simple process that even those with the most basic bartending skills should be able to take on. Just be sure to use high-quality tequila for the best flavor.

You can also make your margarita non-alcoholic. Just omit the tequila and triple sec, replacing them with orange juice and sparkling water. Or, look for non-alcoholic tequila. Here’s one option for a margarita mocktail.

How Can You Add More Flavor to Margaritas?

A classic margarita is sour, salty, and so tasty. However, not everyone enjoys the same flavors. Luckily, subtle changes to the classic concoction can be enough to give you some unique margarita flavors.

Looking for something sweeter, want to make your margarita spicy, or just want to try something new? Read on for five different margarita recipes we recommend for putting a twist on the traditional margarita.

1. Ocean Water Blue Margarita

To make a margarita blue, you simply need to replace the triple sec with Blue Curacao. This liquor has a similar flavor to triple sec, but has a bright blue color and a slightly sweeter taste. For an extra bit of sweetness, this recipe adds a splash of agave syrup and replaces the classic salt rim with sugar.

It’ll help bring back beach memories of beautiful blue oceans while you’re lounging a little closer to home on an in-pool chaise.

  3. Shake until well combined.
  4. Strain the mixture into the sugar-rimmed glass and add ice.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!

2. Trip-to-the-Tropics Margarita

Turn your margarita into a sweet treat with a combination of tropical fruits. For this recipe, we recommend a cup each of dragon fruit, mango, pineapple, and strawberry. By filling up the blender, you’ll be able to make enough for everyone.

Chill down the party by using frozen fruit or adding plenty of ice along with your fresh fruit.
